About Dr. Jicheng Zhou

Dr. Jicheng Zhou is a highly distinguished and senior practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine with nearly four decades of extensive clinical and academic experience. He graduated from Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (now Anhui University of Chinese Medicine) with a Bachelor's degree in Medicine in 1987.

After graduation, he served for 18 years at Taihe Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Anhui (currently a Grade 3, Class A hospital), holding key clinical and leadership roles including Resident Physician, Attending Physician, Associate Chief Physician, Head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Director of Medical Affairs, and Director of the Outpatient Department. In 1995, he advanced his clinical expertise through further studies in internal medicine at the Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, where he studied directly under the renowned Master Physicians Lu Zhizheng and Xie Haizhou.

In 1996, Dr. Zhou founded the specialised Diabetes Ward and Outpatient Clinic at his hospital and served as a committee member of the Fuyang Diabetes Professional Committee. Relocating to the UK in 2005 to continue his clinical career, he currently serves as a Council Member of the Federation of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners (FTCMP), Managing Editor of the Journal of Chinese Medicine (UK), and a committee member of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) Professional Committee of Ancient Classical Formulas.

Holistic Background

Dr. Zhou's practice is deeply rooted in a lifetime of rigorous clinical immersion and profound classical wisdom. Intellectually dedicated to the study of the foundational classics — including the Neijing and Nanjing, the Shanghan Lun, and traditional Chinese cosmology and divination systems — he possesses an extraordinary mastery of the interactions of the Five Elements, Yin-Yang dynamics, and the subtle mechanisms of life.

Viewing health and disease through an integrated, holistic lens, Dr. Zhou treats the whole person rather than isolated symptoms. His clinical philosophy seamlessly combines acupuncture and herbal medicine (針藥並舉), aiming to revive internal energy pathways, harmonise physiological functions, and support deep systemic recovery.

His Approach

Dr. Zhou focuses on diagnosing and treating the root cause of complex, chronic internal conditions, with particular clinical expertise in treating diabetes, thyroid disorders and a range of difficult-to-treat diseases through an integrative medicine approach. He combines meticulous constitutional and pattern differentiation with personalised, multi-targeted care plans.

By employing precise acupuncture techniques — such as Opening-Closing-Pivot (开阖枢) acupuncture — alongside customised herbal formulations, his goal is to relieve suffering, restore emotional and physical equilibrium, and guide patients towards sustainable long-term health and vitality.
